Obtain Online Exposure

for Your Freelance Editorial Services

by Michele R. Acosta

The World Wide Web has changed the way freelance writers do business. One great way to attract the attention of those who hire freelancers is to post a description of your services for hire on web sites that offer lists of freelancers.

The Internet has created a need for qualified writers. It also offers a means for writers and other freelancers to make it known that they are open for business. Many sites allowing freelancers to post descriptions of their services have sprouted up. Some of these sites allow freelancers to post brief descriptions of available services, while others allow detailed profiles and resumes. Some are free, and others are not.

When deciding which of these web sites is best for you, consider how much, if anything, you are willing to pay for the service. Some services allow employers to register for free, but ask freelance service providers to pay a fee in order to “bid” on jobs. As a result, employers can post their jobs in multiple sites and are under no obligation to hire you or the freelancers against whom you are bidding.

In most cases, sites that do not require a fee are a good bet. You will probably be asked to provide an email address, but aside from that, you are only investing the time it takes to create the post. Even if prospective employers do not find the site on which you have posted your information, any links that you have included in your positing will help drive more traffic to your web site (assuming you have a web site that advertises your freelance services). So in most cases, the time you spend posting your freelance services will help prospective employers find you and the freelance services you provide.
