Making a living as a writer is more than just putting pen to paper or fingers to keyboard. It is even more than having talent. Making a living as a writer first involves finding someone to pay you for your skills, and then requires an organizational plan to keep the business afloat.

For most of us, the business of writing has its own set of quirks that are less common in other occupations. Writing involves a tremendous amount of self motivation and is usually a solitary endeavor. Sometimes this is an asset, sometimes an obstacle.
Many writers also work from home. Working around family members' schedules and watching the pile of dirty laundry grow can be distracting. Writing--like any other artistic endeavor--also requires us to sell what we love.

The Writer's Help Desk provides firm ground on which to stand when you are torn between the business and psychology of writing. When inner strength threatens to evaporate and paying clients are few and far between, The Writer's Help Desk is here to keep you going.
